STOPSTOP is Sequential Thematic Organization of Proposals, an early idea to add modular structure to proposals by Hughes Aircraft for the US Department of the Navy. Each module consisted of two facing pages. STOP documents had short topics, with titles and short descriptions, on the left page and accompanying visual diagrams on the facing page. Developed independently at about the same time as Bob Horn's Structured Writing for his company Information Mapping™, these two structured writing techniques have similarities. In recent years Bob Horn has stressed Visual Language. References SEQUENTIAL THEMATIC ORGANIZATION. OF PUBLICATIONS (STOP):. How to Achieve Coherence in Proposals and Reports, Hughes Aircraft, 1965.
